Sustainability in early childhood education is an important part of the curriculum. Sustainability is all about educating people and learning about the environment, how systems operate and what we need from the natural world to ensure our survival.
We encourage and teach the children about taking responsibility for the waste we generate in our environment. Composting and Worm farming allows us to prevent organic waste contributing to landfill. Children are playing a role in improving and caring for their natural environment.
We often grow seasonal produce in our garden beds to promote care for our natural environments. This allows for children to develop responsibility in the garden to care for plants and understanding as they learn all about cause and effect. Plants and Veggies wont survive if we don't water them.
We engage children in discussions about sustainable practices. The children learn about disposing of waste correctly.
Recycling our waste reduces our environmental impact. It prevents rubbish otherwise languishing in landfill or being incinerated.
